Nick Sweeney's documentaries have brought important social issues to considerable worldwide audiences.

2022 saw the release of SANTA CAMP on HBO Max, which follows the New England Santa Society as it tackles the lack of diversity in the Santa industry. Vanity Fair hailed it as one of the Best Christmas Movies of All Time. The Daily Beast acclaimed it as “a must-watch,” while the Los Angeles Times called it “challenging and frequently moving.” 

In 2020 he released feature documentary, AKA JANE ROE, on FX/Hulu/Disney+. The film tells the story of Norma McCorvey, the real life “Jane Roe”, whose 1973 case, Roe v. Wade, legalized abortion in the United States. Captured across the final year of her life, the film garnered acclaim as a “stunning” (Washington Post), “shocking” (New York Times), “bombshell” (Variety).

Prior to that, his 2015 Channel 4 series on transgender kids was watched by over 4 million viewers in Britain.

He is Pakistani-Australian and lives in New York with his partner, journalist James West.
